This is multiple work made at the time of the exhibition WE’RE ALL WATER in 2005. As Ono made a statement, ‘You are water. I am water, too. (a story of water)’ in 1967, water has been her continuous interest since when she resumed her art career. Water is a synonym for love to Ono as both are indispensable for us to live. WE’RE ALL WATER was the installation that embodied a story of water, and toured all over the world. It was a beautiful exhibition that excellently spoke her message in the form of art as ‘Change the world by the power of love.’ The show was arranged to accommodate more of Japanese culture by using Japanese lacquer ware. Ono has proposed the idea of putting three works of DESCRIPTION OF WATER (including A STORY OF WATER) made in the 60s in a leakproof bento box as multiple. A bento box finished with black lacquer is finally chosen.
