I see my work as a series of visual comments. A dialogue between the materials and the natural forces at work.
Magnetic Drawing
With the magnetic pieces I wish th challenge but at the same time show respect for the unseen energy; to make visible that which would otherwise be invisible; to produce a visual as well as a cerebral and physical balance; to provoke uncertainly.
Compass Drawing
With the compass pieces I wish to draw ones attention to, and challenge ones understanding of, the earths magnetic field. To work with and against this invisible energy - an energy that is constantly with us.
Burnt Wood Drawing
In the burnt wood drawings I see myself as the catalyst transferring the inherent/natural energy of the wood into line through the process of burning. In this work as indeed in all my work I am concerned with a sense of order
- a sense of well-being...a dialogue between the materials and the natural forces at work.
